On October 7, 2025, a trilateral meeting of representatives of the Nigerian Agricultural Bank, AFROCOM, and Gazprombank of the Russian Federation took place at the AFROCOM venue.
AFROCOM Vice‑President I. Gabdinurov gave a brief presentation of the Committee, highlighting its potential and capabilities to assist Russian businesses in entering African markets. He added that AFROCOM has a strong presence in most African countries, directly represents a number of Russian enterprises and organizations, and is able to supply their products and technologies to Africa. Moreover, it has the capacity to resolve emerging issues, particularly in the area of payments.
Gazprombank representative A. Rubinchik delivered a presentation about his bank, which ranks third among Russian banks and, despite the sanctions imposed on it, possesses the tools to operate in the international market. He emphasized that the bank primarily works in the oil and gas sector and with large industrial projects, but is also ready to participate in projects in other sectors if they are financially sound and promising from the standpoint of profitability and surplus. Most importantly, he said, it is essential to initially understand the feasibility of using such a tool as a leasing scheme, which the bank can offer.
Representative of the Nigerian bank Ayo Odulare presented his bank, describing the support it provides to farmers and agribusiness to ensure the country’s food security. The bank is 100 % state‑owned and represents the interests of the end customer. He stressed that the bank has experience in making payments with enterprises subject to Western sanctions, in particular those from Belarus. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of establishing a service center to maintain any equipment supplied through AFROCOM channels and to ensure the supply of spare parts for it.
The parties agreed that the Nigerian side would send a roadmap to AFROCOM, outlining a plan for further actions to establish mutually beneficial cooperation over the long term.
